Ribonuclease-P RNA gene of the plastid chromosome from Cyanophora paradoxa.

چکیده
The gene, rnpB, encoding the RNA portion of ribonuclease-P has been found in the cyanelle DNA of Cyanophora paradoxa. A secondary structure model for the cyanelle RNA fits into that for eubacterial Rapb-RNAs.

Gene nadA, Encoding Quinolinate Synthetase, Is Located on the Cyanelle DNA from Cyanophora paradoxa.
We report the nucleotide sequence of gene nadA and its location on cyanelle (= plastid) DNA of the unicellular alga Cyanophora paradoxa. The gene is located on the circular (-128 kbp) (2) cyanelle chromosome. It is flanked by gene apcD (7), and it is close to a recently identified SI0-spc nbosomal protein gene cluster (8), the expression of which we study. The sequence, 1305 nucleotides in leng...
متن کاملCyanophora paradoxa genome elucidates origin of photosynthesis in algae and plants.
The primary endosymbiotic origin of the plastid in eukaryotes more than 1 billion years ago led to the evolution of algae and plants. We analyzed draft genome and transcriptome data from the basally diverging alga Cyanophora paradoxa and provide evidence for a single origin of the primary plastid in the eukaryote supergroup Plantae. C. paradoxa retains ancestral features of starch biosynthesis,...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of a gene for a major light-harvesting polypeptide from Cyanophora paradoxa.
Antibodies raised against mixtures of phycobilisome polypeptides from the eukaryotic alga Cyanidium caldarium were used in an immunological screen to detect expression of phycobiliprotein genes in an Escherichia coli library containing segments of plastid (chloroplast, cyanelle) DNA from another eukaryotic alga, Cyanophora paradoxa. The four candidate clones obtained were mapped by restriction ...
متن کاملRibonuclease P: the diversity of a ubiquitous RNA processing enzyme.
Ribonuclease P is the endonuclease required for generating the mature tRNA 5'-end. The ribonucleoprotein character of this enzyme has now been proven in most organisms and organelles. Exceptions, however, are still the chloroplasts, plant nuclei and animal mitochondria where no associated RNAs have been detected to date. In contrast to the known RNA subunits, which are fairly well-conserved in ...
متن کاملCyanobacterial Contribution to Algal Nuclear Genomes Is Primarily Limited to Plastid Functions
A single cyanobacterial primary endosymbiosis that occurred approximately 1.5 billion years ago is believed to have given rise to the plastid in the common ancestor of the Plantae or Archaeplastida--the eukaryotic supergroup comprising red, green (including land plants), and glaucophyte algae. Critical to plastid establishment was the transfer of endosymbiont genes to the host nucleus (i.e., en...
